The Russian Review

ISSN: 0036-0341eISSN: 1467-9434

Experts agree that for the last half-dozen years The Russian Review has reigned as a premier journal in Slavic Studies. Its prescient receptivity to cultural studies, its admirable emphasis on intellectual and scholarly quality over 'partiinost' and its unusually rigorous adherence to publication schedules have made The Russian Review a model of academic scholarship and professionalism. The Russian Review appears punctually, rarely contains typographical errors and stylistic solecisms, teems with stimulating, original insights, and invariably explores new ground. It is one of the only professional journals worth reading from cover to cover, and its achievements are all the more impressive in light of its independence from dues-paying organizations - Helena Goscilo, University of Pittsburgh.

The Translator

ISSN: 1355-6509eISSN: 1757-0409

The Translator is a refereed international journal that publishes articles on a variety of issues related to translation and interpreting as acts of intercultural communication. It puts equal emphasis on rigour and readability and is not restricted in scope to any particular school of thought or academic group. By keeping an open mind on how translation can or should be studied and the kind of disciplines that can inform it, The Translator hopes to provide a meeting point for existing as well as future approaches and to stimulate interaction between various groups who share a common concern for translation as a profession and translation studies as a discipline. Translation is understood to cover all types of translation, whether written or oral, including activities such as literary and commercial translation, various forms of oral interpreting, dubbing, voice-overs, subtitling, translation for the stage, and such under-researched areas as sign language interpreting and community interpreting. Extended special issues guest-edited by leading scholars are published regularly.

Each issue contains one long target article about a topic of general linguistic interest, together with several shorter reactions, comments and reflections on it. We hope that this format stimulates discussion in linguistics and adjacent fields of study, in particular across schools of different theoretical orientations.
