Journal Guide

Topology and its Applications is primarily concerned with publishing original research papers of moderate length. However, a limited number of carefully selected survey or expository papers are also included. The mathematical focus of the journal is that suggested by the title: Research in Topology. It is felt that it is inadvisable to attempt a definitive description of topology as understood for this journal. Certainly the subject includes the algebraic, general, geometric, and set-theoretic facets of topology as well as areas of interactions between topology and other mathematical disciplines, e.g. topological algebra, topological dynamics, functional analysis, category theory. Since the roles of various aspects of topology continue to change, the non-specific delineation of topics serves to reflect the current state of research in topology.At regular intervals, the journal publishes a section entitled Open Problems in Topology, edited by J. van Mill and G.M. Reed. This journal is devoted to research articles in all areas of pure and applied mathematics. To be published in the Transactions, a paper must be correct, new, and significant. Further, it must be well written and of interest to a substantial number of mathematicians. Piecemeal results, such as an inconclusive step toward an unproved major theorem or a minor variation on a known result, are in general not acceptable for publication. Papers of less than 15 printed pages that meet the above criteria should be submitted to the Proceedings of the American Mathematical Society. Published pages are the same size as those generated in the style files provided for AMS-LaTeX or AMS-TeX.

The Transactions of the London Mathematical Society is a fully Open Access journal that publishes leading research in a broad range of mathematical subject areas. Articles accepted by the Transactions are of high quality and well written.

The Transactions welcomes papers on subjects of general interest that represent a significant advance in mathematical knowledge as well as submissions that are deemed to stimulate new interest and research activity. The journal is peer reviewed to the high standard assured by the London Mathematical Society for all its journals.

Transformation Groups will only accept research articles containing new results, complete proofs and an abstract. Topics include: Lie groups and Lie algebras; Lie transformation groups and holomorphic transformation groups; Algebraic groups; Invariant theory; Geometry and topology of homogeneous spaces; Discrete subgroups of Lie groups; Quantum groups and enveloping algebras; Group aspects of conformal field theory; Kac-Moody groups and algebras; Lie supergroups and superalgebras. Ukrainian Mathematical Journal publishes articles and brief communications on various areas of pure and applied mathematics and contains sections devoted to scientific information, bibliography, and reviews of current problems. It features contributions from researchers from the Ukrainian Mathematics Institute, the major scientific centers of the Ukraine and other countries. Ukrainian Mathematical Journal is a translation of the peer-reviewed journal Ukrains’kyi Matematychnyi Zhurnal, a publication of the Institute of Mathematics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
