Probiotics and Antimicrobial Proteins publishes reviews, original articles, letters (short notes) and technical (methodological) communications targeted towards the advancement of the fundamental knowledge and exploration of the applications of probiotics, natural antimicrobial proteins and their derivatives in biomedical, agricultural, veterinary, food, and cosmetic products. The Journal equally welcomes fundamental research articles and reports on applications of these microorganisms and substances. The Journal encourages structural studies and studies that correlate the structure and functional properties of antimicrobial proteins. Authors are expected to submit manuscripts dealing with all aspects of probiotics and antimicrobial peptides, from their discovery and understanding mechanisms of action to biophysical experiments/simulations that clarify mechanisms of action on molecular level, testing pharmacological profiles (activity and toxicity) and design of novel antimicrobial proteins and/or probiotic-containing or probiotic-derived products with therapeutic, food or consumer health formulation potential.

Protist is the international forum for reporting substantial and novel findings in any area of research on protists. The criteria for acceptance of manuscripts are scientific excellence, significance, and interest for a broad readership. Suitable subject areas include: molecular, cell and developmental biology, biochemistry, systematics and phylogeny, and ecology of protists. Both autotrophic and heterotrophic protists as well as parasites are covered. The journal publishes original papers, short historical perspectives and includes a news and views section.

RSC Chemical Biology is a gold open access journal dedicated to publishing and disseminating exceptional, breakthrough research and high-quality reviews at the interface of chemistry and biology. We welcome contributions from across the breadth of the chemical biology field. 1887-The beginnings of the journalResearch in Microbiology is the direct descendant of the original Pasteur periodical entitled Annales de l'Institut Pasteur, created in 1887 by Emile Duclaux under the patronage of Louis Pasteur. The Editorial Committee included Chamberland, Grancher, Nocard, Roux and Straus, and the first issue began with Louis Pasteur's "Lettre sur la Rage" which clearly defines the spirit of the journal:"You have informed me, my dear Duclaux, that you intend to start a monthly collection of articles entitled "Annales de l'Institut Pasteur". You will be rendering a service that will be appreciated by the ever increasing number of young scientists who are attracted to microbiological studies. In your Annales, our laboratory research will of course occupy a central position, but the work from outside groups that you intend to publish will be a source of competitive stimulation for all of us."That first volume included 53 articles as well as critical reviews and book reviews. From that time on, the Annales appeared regularly every month, without interruption, even during the two world wars. Although the journal has undergone many changes over the past 100 years (in the title, the format, the language) reflecting the evolution in scientific publishing, it has consistently maintained the Pasteur tradition by publishing original reports on all aspects of microbiology.Originally founded as the " Annales de l'Institut Pasteur ", Research in Microbiology has been a leading source of up-to-date information in the field of microbiology for more than a century. Symbiosis publishes the results of original research contributing to the understanding of symbiotic interactions at the molecular, cellular and organismic levels. The journal is intended introduce new or unknown symbioses for research in symbiology. This wide-ranging approach is designed to encourage and enhance interaction among researchers in the various sectors of an intriguing and rapidly expanding field. Systematic and Applied Microbiology deals with various aspects of microbialdiversity and systematics of prokaryotes. It focuses on Bacteria and Archaea; eukaryotic microorganisms will only be considered in rare cases. The journal perceives a broad understanding of microbial diversity and encourages the submission of manuscripts from the following branches of microbiology: Systematics: Theoretical and practical issues dealing with classification and taxonomy, i.e. (i) new descriptions or revisions of prokaryotic taxa, including descriptions of not-yet cultured taxa in the category Candidatus (ii) innovative methods for the determination of taxonomical and genealogical relationships, (iii) evaluation of intra-taxon diversity through multidisciplinary approaches, (iv) identification methods. The Journal of Antibiotics seeks to promote research on antibiotics and related types of medicinal substances. The journal will accept biochemical, chemical, microbiological and pharmacological studies. However, studies regarding human therapy do not fall under the journal's scope. Contributions regarding antibiotics and bioactive microbial products are particularly encouraged. Trials in Vaccinology is a new peer-reviewed online-only journal that will guarantee direct public access to the results of vaccine trials in humans and target animals, especially those of whose scientific novelty is not exceptional, and thus increase the transparency of current supportive scientific research in the field of vaccines.
