Geotechnical and Geological Engineering publishes papers in the areas of soil and rock engineering and also of geology as applied in the civil engineering, mining and petroleum industries. The emphasis is on the engineering aspects of soil and rock mechanics, geology and hydrogeology, although papers on theoretical and experimental advances in ground mechanics are also welcomed for inclusion.The journal encompasses a broad spectrum of geo-engineering although several areas have been identified which will be given particular priority: Soil and rock engineering: Foundation engineering: Applied geology for design and construction: Geo-environmental engineering: Earthquake engineering and dynamic behavior of soils and rocks: Geohazards and mitigation: Mining engineering: Geotechnical aspects of petroleum engineering: Information technology applications in geo-engineering: Novel geotechnical construction techniques: Case histories describing important geo-engineering projects. Geotechnical and Geological Engineering publishes contributions in the form of original and review papers, or as short technical notes. A Book Review section informs the discerning reader of the type and quality of literature available to the geotechnical engineer and engineering geologist.

Geotectonics publishes articles on general and regional tectonics, structural geology, geodynamics, and experimental tectonics and considers the relation of tectonics to the deep structure of the earth, magmatism, metamorphism, and mineral resources. Reviews of scientific articles and books, information on scientific life, and advertisements of scientific literature and cartographic materials and devices are also published.

Geothermics is an international journal devoted to the research and development of geothermal energy. The International Board of Editors of Geothermics, which comprises specialists in the various aspects of geothermal resources, exploration and development, guarantees the balanced, comprehensive view of scientific and technological developments in this promising energy field.It promulgates the state of the art and science of geothermal energy, its exploration and exploitation through a regular exchange of information from all parts of the world. Gondwana Research (GR) is an International Journal aimed to promote high quality research publications on all topics related to solid Earth, particularly with reference to the origin and evolution of continents, continental assemblies and their resources. When it was founded, the International Journal of Speleology was divided into four sections: Botany-Microbiology, Zoology, Geology-Geomorphology and Abstract-News. After the first issue edited by G. Claus (USA) other two editors added: R. Husson (France) and G Nicholas (USA). Verlag von J. Kramer (Germany) printed the first two volumes; successively Swets & ZEITLINGER N.V. (The Netherlands) published it.Since 1972 R. Husson became Editor-in -chief with Br. G. Nicholas as Book & News Editor and nine volumes were issued in the period 1964 to 1977 when the very high cost of printing requested a radical change.In 1978 the IJS became the official journal of the Union International de Spéléologie and it was published in Italy where the printing cost was cheaper. R. Husson (Biospeleology), A.A. Cigna (Physical Speleology) and Br. G. Nicholas (Book & News) composed the Editorial Board.

Island Arc provides an opportunity for the prompt, international and high-standard publication of research from all fields of solid earth geosciences. Papers which discuss the interaction between the solid earth, atmosphere, and water bodies are also welcome. The journal has a particularly good track record in publishing results of studies related to convergent plate margins and to the Pacific and Asian regions. The Journal publishes peer-reviewed articles and reviews. Original scientific articles, of a maximum length of 15 printed pages, are published promptly with a standard publication time from submission of 8 months. Articles describing new and important results are given priority and will be published a minimum of 4 months after submission. All articles are peer reviewed by at least two researchers expert in the field of the submitted paper.

The Journal of African Earth Sciences sees itself as the prime geological journal for all aspects of the geology of the African continent and the Middle East, and especially on the search for natural resources from these regions.This international interdisciplinary journal publishes high quality, peer-reviewed scientific papers on the geodynamics of the African and Arabian plates and their contained mobile belts, cratons and sedimentary basins; the crustal evolution, tectonics and structural geology of this region; economic geology of major mineral deposits and hydrocarbon resources; sedimentology, stratigraphy and palaeontology, petrology and mineralogy, geochemistry and isotope geology of Africa and the Middle East. Papers on applied geology should preferably be linked to such core geological disciplines and must be addressed to a more general geological readership. It is important to note that articles intended for submission to the Journal of African Earth Sciences must be of a wider African (or even international) context rather than purely local studies of limited scope, which should rather be addressed to national or local African-Middle Eastern journal forums. Journal of African Earth Sciences papers should appeal to a wide audience of geoscientists rather than being highly specialised technical papers.The journal is closely affiliated with the Geological Society of Africa and publishes the GSA Newsletter. The Journal of Asian Earth Sciences is an international interdisciplinary journal devoted to all aspects of research related to the solid Earth Sciences of Asia. The Journal publishes high quality, peer-reviewed scientific papers on the regional geology, tectonics, geochemistry and geophysics of Asia. It will be devoted primarily to research papers but short communications relating to new developments of broad interest, reviews and book reviews will also be included.
