Drug Discovery Today: Therapeutic Strategies

ISSN: 1740-6773

The Drug Discovery Today reviews collection provides a resource of review content aligning the key output of human molecular medicine with the specific requirements of the drug discovery process. It is designed to systematically cover the essential elements of molecular medicine and drug discovery, in a manner that has relevance to those actually working on the discovery and development of new drugs. This collection will evolve to create a highly structured database and will act as a one-stop-shop for high quality content. What are the biotechnical challenges in ensuring drug action, especially with regard to biopharmaceuticals? Drug Discovery Today: Therapeutic Strategies discusses the varied strategies used, including stem-cell therapy, vaccination, gene therapy, tissue modelling, tissue and non-tissue implants and many others.Other titles in this series include:Drug Discovery Today: Disease MechanismsDrug Discovery Today: Disease ModelsDrug Discovery Today: TechnologiesThere will be four issues each year. The Drug Discovery Today reviews collection is only available online.Ethics in Publishing: General StatementThe Editor(s) and Publisher of this Journal believe that there are fundamental principles underlying scholarly or professional publishing. While this may not amount to a formal 'code of conduct', these fundamental principles with respect to the authors' paper are that the paper should: i) be the authors' own original work, which has not been previously published elsewhere, ii) reflect the authors' own research and analysis and do so in a truthful and complete manner, iii) properly credit the meaningful contributions of co-authors and co-researchers, iv) not be submitted to more than one journal for consideration, and v) be appropriately placed in the context of prior and existing research. Of equal importance are ethical guidelines dealing with research methods and research funding, including issues dealing with informed consent, research subject privacy rights, conflicts of interest, and sources of funding. While it may not be possible to draft a 'code' that applies adequately to all instances and circumstances, we believe it useful to outline our expectations of authors and procedures that the Journal will employ in the event of questions concerning author conduct. With respect to conflicts of interest, the Publisher now requires authors to declare any conflicts of interest that relate to papers accepted for publication in this Journal. A conflict of interest may exist when an author or the author's institution has a financial or other relationship with other people or organizations that may inappropriately influence the author's work. A conflict can be actual or potential and full disclosure to the Journal is the safest course. All submissions to the Journal must include disclosure of all relationships that could be viewed as presenting a potential conflict of interest. The Journal may use such information as a basis for editorial decisions and may publish such disclosures if they are believed to be important to readers in judging the manuscript. A decision may be made by the Journal not to publish on the basis of the declared conflict. DOAJ Logo

The effective translation of insights gained from biomedical research into improved human health is a global priority. To this end, Elsevier has looked to the leadership of its two leading brands, Cell and The Lancet, to guide the launch of a new comprehensive, online-only open access Elsevier journal, EBioMedicine, focused on forming a community that spans this interface and creates a valuable opportunity for dialogue and collaboration between their respective audiences.

As the communities that border this interface are large and diverse, the scope of EBioMedicine will cover the entire breadth of translational and clinical research within all disciplines of life and health sciences, ranging from basic science to clinical and public/global health science. The journal will also place a high priority on rapid publication. The journal seeks to publish a broad range of research study types, from experimental findings, critical analyses, methodological & technical innovations, and hypotheses to observational epidemiological studies, clinical trials, meta-analyses, and study protocols. In addition, EBioMedicine will publish commentaries, reviews, and viewpoints that enhance the accessibility and applicability of basic research findings for health professionals, and promote a better understanding of clinical challenges for biomedical researchers.

In leveraging the editorial leadership from Cell and The Lancet together with the publishing expertise of Elsevier to create a unique forum for the reputable and speedy publication of research in life and health sciences, we are committed to facilitating and incentivizing a robust and successful pipeline for improved human health globally.

ELECTROPHORESIS

ISSN: 0173-0835eISSN: 1522-2683

ELECTROPHORESIS is an international journal that publishes original manuscripts on all aspects of electrophoresis. Topics include new or improved analytical and preparative methods, development of theory, and innovative applications of electrophoretic methods in the study of nucleic acids, proteins, and other compounds. Papers describing the application of standard electrophoretic methods will not be considered. Microfluidics and proteomics, which have been an integral part of the Journal since 2000 or earlier, have been added as subtitles in 2008 to make them more visible to the readers and authors (Papers in the areas of microfluidics and proteomics, which are not limited to electrophoresis-based methods will also be accepted for publication). As a natural expansion of the scope of the Journal, we now add Nanoanalysis as another subtitle. Nanoanalysis is a broad term, and therefore papers that will be accepted for publications in nanoanalysis must be focused on one or more of the following: (i) nanoscale electrokinetics and phenomena related to electric double layer and/or confinement in nano-sized geometry, (ii) single cell and sub- cellular analysis, (iii) nano-sensors and ultra-sensitive detection aspects (e.g., involving quantum dots, 'nano-electrodes' or nano-spray MS), (iv) nano-scale/nanopore DNA sequencing (next generation sequencing), (v) micro- and nano-scale sample preparation, (vi) nanoparticles and cells analyses by dielectrophoresis, (vii) separation-based analysis using nanoparticles, nanotubes and nanowires. Contributions will be allocated to one of the six subject categories: (i) general, (ii) nucleic acids, (iii) capillary electrophoresis and capillary electrochromatography (CE and CEC), (iv) microfluidics and miniaturization, (v) proteomics and two-dimensional electrophoresis (2-DE), and (vi) nanoanalysis. On submission authors are requested to indicate the preferred subject category. ELECTROPHORESIS will continue to serve as an indispensable vehicle for the dissemination of efficacious advances by covering all operative approaches from gels through capillaries to chips.
