The Oncologist

ISSN: 1083-7159eISSN: 1549-490X
DOAJ Logo

Oncology and hematology professionals are continuously charged with staying on the cutting–edge of new medical treatments and technologies to foster better cancer patient care and practice management. To that end, The Oncologist® is dedicated to translating the latest research developments into best multimodality practice.Established by oncologists for oncologists, the Journal is committed to helping physicians excel in a challenging and ever-changing environment; to ensure their patients’ rights to the highest level of care from screening and prevention to diagnosis, treatment and management of the disease.Designed specifically for the busy practitioner, The Oncologist is devoted to medical and practice issues for surgical, radiation, and medical oncologists. With emphasis on clear, concise interpretation, rather than data, the Journal's articles are meant to impact the practice of oncology and to facilitate significant communication in the introduction and application of new advancements. The Oncologist'sSenior Editors believe that the various oncology subspecialists should share the same information base and read the same journal. It is up to us, as leaders in this field, to defend the patient's needs and rights and to assure that the patient has an advocate. In order to do so, we have to be united and fully informed. We pledge to put the best and latest information on cancer management before our readership, to help prepare them for the future, and to do their best as a team to improve outcomes and quality of life for every patient.Manuscripts are reviewed by two or more field experts and, when accepted, are published expeditiously—generally within 12 weeks. When a contribution is of such relevance as to significantly impact public health, authors may request Fast Track Review for a Rapid Communication, in which case an editorial decision will be made within 2 weeks of submission. The Oncologist challenges its readers to understand what is new and better, to glimpse the future, not only in terms of research, but also in terms of new team approaches to disease management. In short, we want our readers to explore how cancer medicine could be and will be practiced now and throughout the 21st century.CORRESPONDENCEEditorial correspondence, including submissions for publication or letters to the Editor, should be addressed to the Executive Editor. Submissions for publication in the Fundamentals in Cancer Medicine section should also be addressed to the Executive Editor.Information for Authors can be found at the back of each issue, or contact the AlphaMed Press Editorial Office.Advertising: Correspondence and rate requests should be addressed to the Publisher.Change of Address notices: Both the subscriber's old and new address should be e-mailed to AlphaMed Press at least one month in advance. The Plant Cell

ISSN: 1040-4651eISSN: 1532-298X

The Plant Cell publishes novel research of special significance in plant biology, especially in the areas of cellular biology, molecular biology, genetics, development, and evolution. The primary criteria for publication are that the article provides new insight that is of broad interest to plant biologists, not only to specialists, and that the presentation of results is appropriate for a wide audience of plant biologists. The Plant Cell was founded on four key tenets: (1) to publish the most exciting, cutting-edge research in plant cellular and molecular biology, (2) to provide the most rapid turnaround time possible for reviewing and publishing a research paper, (3) to feature the highest quality reproduction of data, and (4) to provide, in the front section of the journal, a more interactive format for commentaries, opinion pieces, and the exchange of information and ideas in review articles, meeting reports, and insightful overviews of featured research papers. For information about library subscriptions, contact Suzanne Cholwek at ASPB Library Subscription Services. For information about the prices for individual subscriptions, which are available to members of the American Society of Plant Biologists, contact ASPB Member Services. The Plant Journal

ISSN: 0960-7412eISSN: 1365-313X

Publishing the best original research papers in all key areas of modern plant biology from the world's leading laboratories, The Plant Journal provides a dynamic forum for this ever growing international research community. Plant science research is now at the forefront of research in the biological sciences, with breakthroughs in our understanding of fundamental processes in plants matching those in other organisms. The impact of molecular genetics and the availability of model and crop species can be seen in all aspects of plant biology. For publication in The Plant Journal the research must provide a highly significant new contribution to our understanding of plants and be of general interest to the plant science community. All areas of plant biology are welcome and the experimental approaches used can be wide-ranging. While The Plant Journal recognizes the importance of biotechnology for plant improvement, it does not publish full research papers that do not provide fundamental advances in plant biology. Tissue Barriers

ISSN: 2168-8362eISSN: 2168-8370

Aims & Scope: Tissue Barriers is the first international cross-disciplinary journal that focuses on the architecture, biological roles and regulation of tissue barriers and intercellular junctions. We publish high quality peer-reviewed articles that cover a wide range of topics including structure and functions of the intestinal, airway, renal, epidermal and other types of tissue barriers, biology of  blood-brain and blood-testis barriers, molecular composition and dynamics of epithelial and endothelial junctions, leukocyte, tumor cell and pathogen interactions with epithelial and endothelial layers, non-cellular components of tissue barriers, barrier dysfunctions in diseases and drug delivery across epithelial and endothelial barriers.

Tissue Barriers publishes several categories of articles including: Original Research Papers, Short Communications, Technical Papers, Reviews, Perspectives and Commentaries, Hypothesis and Meeting Reports. Reviews and Perspectives/Commentaries will typically be invited. We also anticipate to publish special issues that are devoted to rapidly developing or controversial areas of research. Suggestions for topics are welcome.

Tissue Barriers has several goals:

  • To promote cross-disciplinary awareness and collaborations between researchers working with different types of epithelial and endothelial barriers and build a broad and cohesive worldwide community of scientists interesting in this exciting field.
  • To comprehend the enormous complexity of tissue barriers and map cross-talks and interactions between their different cellular and non-cellular components.
  • To highlight the roles of tissue barrier dysfunctions in human diseases and accelerate a search for pharmacological enhancers of tissue barriers as potential therapeutic agents.
  • To understand and optimize drug delivery across epithelial and endothelial barriers.

Tissue Engineering Part B: Reviews

ISSN: 1937-3368eISSN: 1937-3376

Tissue Engineering is the premier biomedical journal that brings together the principles of engineering and life sciences to generate new tissue development. It is a forum for groundbreaking scientific research and clinical application from the leading experts in the field. This multidisciplinary journal publishes cutting-edge, breakthrough research and applications on all aspects of tissue growth and regeneration.Anthony Atala, member of the Executive Editorial Board, when interviewed on a 60 Minutes segment, spoke about Regenerative Medicine and current developments in growing body parts. Dr. Atala is the director at Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine, which is currently growing various tissues for regenerating several body parts including bladders and kidneys, providing endless possibilities for the future of this field.During the interview, Dr. Atala explained “…the hope of the field is that some day we can provide replacement tissues and organs that can be used to help transplant patients who are waiting for organs to survive. Every organ in our body contains special stem cells that are unique to each body part. The key to regeneration is to isolate and then multiply those cells until there are enough to cover a mold of that particle body part.” The field of tissue engineering provides infinite possibilities in bioengineering and life science processes. .
