Systems and Synthetic Biology is a new biomedical journal publishing original papers and articles on all aspects of Systems and Synthetic Biology.Systems Biology is an integrated approach to study collective behaviour of biological interactions. The grand challenge in Systems Biology is to connect molecular topography with physiological responses. Systems Biology field will realize its fullest potential once individual contributions are tied to variations in the system level behavior. The emerging field of synthetic biology combines knowledge from various disciplines including molecular biology, engineering, mathematics, and physics to design and implement new cellular behaviors. Talanta provides a forum for the publication of original research papers, preliminary communications, and critical reviews in all branches of pure and applied analytical chemistry. Papers are evaluated based on established guidelines, including the fundamental nature of the study, scientific novelty, substantial improvement or advantage over existing technology or methods, and demonstrated analytical applicability. Original research papers on fundamental studies, and novel sensor and instrumentation development, are especially encouraged. Novel or improved applications in areas such as clinical and biological chemistry, environmental analysis, geochemistry, and materials science and engineering are welcome.Analytical performance of methods should be determined, including interference and matrix effects, and methods should be validated by comparison with a standard method, or analysis of a certified reference material. The developed method should especially comprise information on selectivity, sensitivity, detection limits, accuracy, and reliability. However, applying official validation or robustness studies to a routine method or technique does not necessarily constitute novelty. Proper statistical treatment of the data should be provided. Relevant literature should be cited, including related publications by the authors, and authors should discuss how their proposed methodology compares with previously reported methods.Since classical spectrophotometric measurements and applications (including derivative spectrophometry), fluorimetry, solvent extraction, titrimetry, chemometrics, etc. are well established and are considered routine analytical methods, studies in such areas should demonstrate a unique and substantial advantage over presently known systems. New reagents or systems should demonstrate clear advantage, and their presentation should be comprehensive rather than generating a series of similar papers for several analytes or similar reagents. Modifications of reagents should demonstrate significant improvements. Obvious application of known chemistries or methods to established instrumental techniques are discouraged.Application of established analytical approaches to relatively simple matrices having no major interferences, such as pharmaceutical preparations, are discouraged unless considerable improvements over other methods in the literature are demonstrated. Papers dealing with analytical data such as stability constants, pKa values, etc. should be submitted to more specific journals, unless novel analytical methodology is demonstrated, or important analytical data are provided which could be useful in the development of analytical procedures.
Despite the major efforts made in oncology over the past ten years, only relatively modest improvements have been made in the conventional treatment of cancer. Recently, a better understanding of molecular pathways has provided pathologists with clues to the parthenogenesis of the disease and multiple targets for new strategies. New treatments, monoclonal antibodies or small molecules, have emerged targeting these pathways and inhibiting tumor growth and progression. These 'mabs' and 'nibs' constitute a new language with its own grammar that oncologists have to learn. Significant work remains in controlling theses processes and understanding these new compounds. This journal aims to be a pragmatic tool for all physicians committed to the field, focusing on insight into the basic science of cellular functions, critical reviews of clinical data. Technology in Cancer Research and Treatment (TCRT) welcomes manuscripts from active investigators involved in technologies devoted to early diagnosis, treatment, and palliation of cancer. TCRT will include both experimental and theoretical investigations. Among the topics that will be covered are MRI, including functional MRI, spiral CT, PET, optical spectroscopy, computer-aided reconstruction of tumors, computer-aided drug design, stereotactic radiosurgery, cryosurgery, brachytherapy, electroporation, photodynamic therapy, gene therapy, cancer vaccine, proteomics, and genomics, as they impact cancer research and treatment. Special emphasis will be given to non-invasive techniques. TCRT publishes original articles, express communications, opinion pieces, and timely reviews. he Indian Journal of Medical Research (IJMR) [ISSN 0971-5916] is one of the oldest medical Journals not only in India, but probably in Asia, as it started in the year 1913. The Journal was started as a quarterly (4 issues/year) in 1913 and made bimonthly (6 issues/year) in 1958. It became monthly (12 issues/year) in the year 1964. The Journal is being indexed and abstracted by all major global current awareness and alerting services (Annexure). The IJMR is published monthly, in two volumes and 12 issues per year. The IJMR publishes peer reviewed quality biomedical research in the form of original research articles, review articles, short papers and short notes. Research letters are also published in the corresponding section after peer review. Supplements are published in addition to the regular issues Special issues. Criteria for consideration of papers - The papers should meet the following criteria – the material should be original, the methodology used should be standard and appropriate, results should be unambiguous supported with data/photographs, conclusions should be reasonable and based on the findings, the topic should be of biomedical interest and findings should have clinical significance. Papers involving human and animals should be ethically cleared by the local ethical committees. Manuscript Preparation - Manuscript should be prepared in accordance with the Guidelines set by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) as uniform requirements for manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals and should be submitted in triplicate (one original and 2 photocopies) with at least 2 sets of original Figures. To what extent are patterns of development and aging attributable to biological factors? To psychological factors? How can the social and behavioral sciences contribute to the actualization of human potential throughout the entire life span? What are the implications of gerontological research for our understanding of the total development of human organism?These are some of the broad questions with which the International Journal of Aging and Human Development is concerned. Emphasis is upon psychological and social studies of aging and the aged.
