The International Journal on Software Tools for Technology Transfer (STTT) provides a forum for the discussion of all aspects of tools supporting the development of computer systems. It offers, above all, a tool-oriented link between academic research and industrial practice.

Tool support for the development of reliable and correct computer systems is of growing importance, and a wealth of design methodologies, algorithms, and associated tools have been developed in different areas of computer science. However, each area has its own culture and terminology, preventing researchers from taking advantage of the results obtained by colleagues in other fields. Tool builders are often unaware of the work done by others, and thus unable to apply it. The situation is even more critical when considering the transfer of new technology into industrial practice.

STTT addresses this situation by (1) publishing accessible papers that introduce researchers and practitioners to state-of-the-art tools and techniques and (2) channeling comments, queries, and feedback about tools and papers in the Online Forum with highlights published electronically.

STTT focuses on three major technical themes:

1. Construction and analysis issues: These involve hierarchical and compositional approaches: syntax-oriented vs. semantic methods: synthesis vs. verification: formal support of the entire system life cycle, including requirements capture, design, implementation, verification, testing maintenance, evolution: and analysis of non-functional aspects of system behavior, such as real-time, probability, and efficiency.2. Practicality issues: These address performance, genericity, and usability of tools: case studies and experience reports: and industrial use and feedback.3. Generic tool issues: These include paradigms (fully automated vs. interactive approaches): design issues (modularity, efficiency, portability, integrability, reusab, ility): automatic support (tool generators, integrators, and interface builders): and user interfaces (graphics, Web forms, retrieval).

STTT comprises Regular Papers, Special Sections in the form of Special Issues or Thematic Sections, the Formal Methods Letters (FML) with its own Editorial Sub-board, an Opinion Corner with Position Papers and Reviews, as well as an Online Forum for more instantaneous discussion. All these kinds of contributions are handled via the STTT online service http://sttt.cs.tu-dortmund.de/sttt-regular/servlet/Conference.

Due to STTT's emphasis on technology transfer, we encourage an illustrative, example-driven presentation style that focuses on the underlying themes. Technical material and detailed proofs that are not necessary for the comprehension of the essence and the impact of the contributions should be replaced by adequate referencing of other publications or be provided separately in an online appendix. This way the journal provides a fast and intuitive entry into new material and new themes, and, at the same time, the online appendix gives experts easy access to the related technical or theoretical details. These include proofs, definitions of complicated underlying calculi, and discussions of related theories, as well as other information concerning implementation issues, user documentation, benchmarking information, and raw experimental data, which go beyond the general interest.

This review journal provides the most current information on basic and translational research in immunology and related fields. In addition to invited reviews, the journal accepts for publication articles and editorials on relevant topics proposed by contributors. Each issue of International Reviews of Immunology contains both solicited and unsolicited review articles, editorials, and 'In-this-Issue' highlights. JAMA Surgery (formerly Archives of Surgery), which began publication in 1920, is an international peer-reviewed journal. JAMA Surgery is the official publication of the Association of VA Surgeons, the Pacific Coast Surgical Association, and the Surgical Outcomes Club and is a member of The JAMA Network family of journals, which includes JAMA and 11 specialty journals.

JAMA Surgery is published online weekly, every Wednesday, and in print/online issues 12 times a year. The journal receives approximately more than 1 million online visits annually, with 2 million article views and downloads. Without any author fees, all research articles are made free access online 12 months after publication on the JAMA website. All articles are made free access on an html app called The JAMA Network Reader on the day of publication. In addition, the online version is freely available or nearly so to institutions in developing countries through the World Health Organization's HINARI program.

Manuscripts from key conferences dealing with cancer and closely related research fields, or a related group of papers on specific subjects of importance to cancer research, are considered for publication, with the understanding that they have not been published previously and are submitted exclusively to the Journal of the National Cancer Institute Monographs. All material submitted for consideration will be subject to review, when appropriate, by at least one outside reviewer and one member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. The Journal of American College Health provides information related to health in institutions of higher education. The journal publishes articles encompassing many areas of this broad field, including clinical and preventive medicine, environmental and community health and safety, health promotion and education, management and administration, mental health, nursing, pharmacy, and sports medicine. The Journal of American College Health is intended for college health professionals: administrators, health ducators, nurses, nurse practitioners, physicians, physician assistants, professors, psychologists, student affairs personnel, and students as peer educators, consumers, and preprofessionals. Journal of Anatomy publishes original papers, invited review articles and book reviews. Its main focus is on contributions to understanding development, evolution and function through a broad range of anatomical approaches. Articles covering bioinformatics and other topics that clarify or provide tools for functional anatomical understanding will also be sympathetically considered. Priority will be given to experimental studies, to contributions based on molecular and cell biology, and on the application of modern functional imaging techniques. Studies that are essentially descriptive anatomy will only be published if the Editors consider that they are of functional significance. Journal of Anatomy also publishes Brief Communications: these are brief papers (up to 3 journal pages) that present new ideas or data of particular originality and timeliness. The editors will also consider publishing Letters (1-2 pages) on scientific issues of clear relevance to the scope of interest of the Journal.

The Journal of Applied Communication Research publishes original scholarship that addresses or challenges the relation between theory and practice in understanding communication in applied contexts. JACR aims primarily to contribute to how people practice communication across multiple contexts. All theoretical and methodological approaches are welcome, as are all contextual areas. Of utmost importance is that an applied communication problem or issue is the motivation for the research. Submissions should be based securely in existing understandings of communication processes, informed by relevant theory, and should substantively advance our understanding of communication in practical settings. Of particular interest are studies that focus on contemporary social issues. Authors are encouraged to clearly and explicitly identify and describe the communication problem or issue early in the manuscript. Also welcome are reviews of recently published books, reports, or monographs relevant to applied communication and reviews of communication interventions or resources (particularly software and internet-based resources). Reviews should be 1,000-1,500 words in length. The Journal of Applied Econometrics is an international journal published bi-monthly, plus 1 additional issue (total 7 issues). It aims to publish articles of high quality dealing with the application of existing as well as new econometric techniques to a wide variety of problems in economics and related subjects, covering topics in measurement, estimation, testing, forecasting, and policy analysis. The emphasis is on the careful and rigorous application of econometric techniques and the appropriate interpretation of the results. The economic content of the articles is stressed. A special feature of the Journal is its emphasis on the replicability of results by other researchers. To achieve this aim, authors are expected to make available a complete set of the data used as well as any specialised computer programs employed through a readily accessible medium, preferably in a machine-readable form. The use of microcomputers in applied research and transferability of data is emphasised. The Journal also features occasional sections of short papers re-evaluating previously published papers. The intention of the Journal of Applied Econometrics is to provide an outlet for innovative, quantitative research in economics which cuts across areas of specialisation, involves transferable techniques, and is easily replicable by other researchers. Contributions that introduce statistical methods that are applicable to a variety of economic problems are actively encouraged. The Journal also aims to publish review and survey articles that make recent developments in the field of theoretical and applied econometrics more readily accessible to applied economists in general.

The Journal of Applied Physiology publishes original papers that deal with diverse areas of research in applied physiology, especially those papers emphasizing adaptive and integrative mechanisms. Adaptive physiology includes 1) inherent adaptations such as those related to development, aging, and pathophysiological conditions and 2) adaptations to the external environment such as those occurring with exercise, microgravity, hypoxia, hypo- and hyperbaria, and hypo- and hyperthermic conditions. Integrative physiology includes 1) horizontal integration across organ systems and 2) vertical integration from molecule to cell to organ. In all areas of applied physiology, the use of cutting-edge techniques including molecular and cellular biology is strongly encouraged.The wide scientific span of the Journal rests on physiology as its keystone. However, the boundaries of physiology have enlarged as demarcations between concepts and techniques in the physiological, pharmacological, and biochemical sciences become increasingly blurred. Moreover, theoretical articles on research at any level of biological organization ranging from molecules to humans fall within the broad scope of the Journal. Papers dealing with topics in other basic sciences that impinge on physiology are also welcome.

The Journal of Back and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation is a journal whose main focus is to present relevant information about the interdisciplinary approach to musculoskeletal rehabilitation for clinicians who treat patients with back and musculoskeletal pain complaints. It will provide readers with both 1) a general fund of knowledge on the assessment and management of specific problems and 2) new information considered to be state-of-the-art in the field. The intended audience is multidisciplinary as well as multi-specialty.In each issue clinicians can find information which they can use in their patient setting the very next day. Manuscripts are provided from a range of health care providers including those in physical medicine, orthopedic surgery, rheumatology, neurosurgery, physical therapy, radiology, osteopathy, chiropractic and nursing on topics ranging from chronic pain to sports medicine. Diagnostic decision trees and treatment algorithms are encouraged in each manuscript. Controversial topics are discussed in commentaries and rebuttals.
