Journal Guide

The Journal of Zoology publishes high-quality research papers that are original and are of broad interest. The Editors seek studies that are hypothesis-driven and interdisciplinary in nature. Papers on animal behaviour, ecology, physiology, anatomy, developmental biology, evolution, systematics, genetics and genomics will be considered; research that explores the interface between these disciplines is strongly encouraged. Studies dealing with geographically and/or taxonomically restricted topics should test general hypotheses, describe novel findings or have broad implications. The Journal of Zoology aims to maintain an effective but fair peer-review process that recognises research quality as a combination of the relevance, approach and execution of a research study. The journal also welcomes reviews and forum papers on current issues, particularly where topics of a complex or poorly understood field are synthesized. Prospective authors should submit a 300-word abstract, a list of up to 20 key references, and a cover letter (two pages maximum) outlining what will be discussed in the article. Proposals for reviews should be submitted to journalofzoology@zsl.org. The submission of completed review manuscripts without prior consultation with the Editor is discouraged. The Journal of Zoology is a member of and subscribes to the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics. Papers that report experimental work must comply with the standards laid down by British national or equivalent legislation and the research permit number must be stated in the acknowledgments section of your manuscript.

The Journal of the American Ceramic Society contains records of original research that provide or lead to fundamental principles in the science of ceramics and ceramic-based composites. These papers include reports of the discovery of new phases, phase relationships, processing approaches and microstructures that relate to ceramic materials and processes. The papers establish the links between processing, structure characterization and properties of ceramics, including modeling approaches that are founded on basic mechanisms. All the published papers must be of enduring value and relevant to the field of ceramics. Short papers for rapid publication are published as Communications and should be novel enough to justify rapid publication. Full-length papers are published as Articles and must add significantly new and fundamental advances to the field. In-depth Articles are published as invited Feature Articles and papers that appraise and assess a particular subject or topic are published as invited Review Articles. The primary goal of the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society is to publish articles that are relevant in the broadest terms to the clinical care of older persons. Such articles may span a variety of disciplines and fields and may be of immediate, intermediate, or long-term potential benefit to clinical practice. JAHA will consider all types of original research articles, including studies conducted with human subjects and experimental models, as well as high-quality applied clinical, epidemiological, and healthcare policy papers related to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. The journal particularly serves as a venue for papers related to the mission of each of the sixteen Scientific Councils of the American Heart Association. Specific content areas of interest are as follows: arrhythmia and electrophysiology, cardiovascular nursing, cardiovascular surgery, congenital heart disease, coronary heart disease, epidemiology, exercise physiology, genetics and translational biology, health services and outcomes research, heart failure, hypertension, imaging, interventional cardiology, molecular cardiology, nutrition, pediatric cardiology, pericardial disease, peripheral vascular disease, preventive cardiology, renal disease, resuscitation science, stroke, transplantation, valvular heart disease, and vascular medicine.

JAOCS, an AOCS journal, publishes original research articles, invited reviews, and letters to the editor that add significantly to the body of knowledge concerning the science and technology of fats, oils, oilseed proteins, and related materials. Included are reports of advances, innovations or important new information pertaining to analysis, properties, processing, products, and applications of these food and industrial resources. Breakthroughs in food science and technology, biotechnology (including biocatalysis and bioprocessing), and industrial products and applications are particularly appropriate. JAWRA seeks to be the preeminent scholarly publication on multidisciplinary water resources issues. JAWRA papers present ideas derived from multiple disciplines woven together to give insight into a critical water issue, or are based primarily upon a single discipline with important applications to other disciplines. Papers often cover the topics of recent AWRA conferences such as riparian ecology, geopraphic information systems, adaptive management, and water policy.JAWRA authors present work within their disciplinary fields to a broader audience. Our Associate Editors and reviewers reflect this diversity to ensure a knowledgeable and fair review of a broad range of topics. We particularly encourage submissions of papers which impart a 'take home message' our readers can use.

The Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (JEADV) publishes articles of general and practical interest in the field of dermatology and venereology including clinical and basic science topics, as well as research with practical implications. It does so through editorials, review and practice articles, original papers of general interest, short reports, letters to the editor, features and EADV announcements.
