The aim of the Journal is to stimulate, publish and disseminate original investigations on the autonomic nervous system: this includes the innervation of blood vessels and viscera, autonomic ganglia, efferent and afferent autonomic pathways, and autonomic nuclei and pathways in the central nervous system. The Editors will consider papers that deal with any aspect of the autonomic nervous system, including structure, physiology, pharmacology, biochemistry, development, evolution, ageing, behavioural aspects, integrative role and influence on emotional and physical states of the body. Interdisciplinary studies will be encouraged. Studies dealing with human pathology will be also welcome. The main types of contribution are full-length articles. These should be as concise as possible and should describe original research that materially advances knowledge of the autonomic nervous system.Short communications, book reviews and short review articles will be considered for publication.
BBA Bioenergetics covers the area of biological membranes involved in energy transfer and conversion. In particular, it focuses on the structures obtained by X-ray crystallography and other approaches, and molecular mechanisms of the components of photosynthesis, mitochondrial and bacterial respiration, oxidative phosphorylation, motility and transport. It spans applications of structural biology, molecular modeling, spectroscopy and biophysics in these systems, through bioenergetic aspects of mitochondrial biology including biomedicine aspects of energy metabolism in mitochondrial disorders, neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's, aging, diabetes and even cancer.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. BBA Biomembranes has its main focus on membrane structure, function and biomolecular organization, membrane proteins, receptors, channels and anchors, fluidity and composition, model membranes and liposomes, membrane surface studies and ligand interactions, transport studies, and membrane dynamics.Types of Papers: regular papers, reviews and mini-reviews.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. BBA Gene Regulatory Mechanisms includes reports that describe novel insights into mechanisms of transcriptional, post-transcriptional and translational gene regulation. Special emphasis is placed on papers that identify epigenetic mechanisms of gene regulation, including chromatin, modification, and remodeling. This section also encompasses mechanistic studies of regulatory proteins and protein complexes; regulatory or mechanistic aspects of RNA processing; regulation of expression by small RNAs; genomic analysis of gene expression patterns; and modeling of gene regulatory pathways. Papers describing gene promoters, enhancers, silencers or other regulatory DNA regions must incorporate significant functions studies.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. BBA General Subjects accepts for submission either original, hypothesis-driven studies or reviews covering subjects in biochemistry and biophysics that are considered to have general interest for a wide audience. Manuscripts with interdisciplinary approaches are especially encouraged.Preferred topics include medically important biochemistry/biophysics research and emerging areas such as nanobiology (nanoparticles, nanotoxicology, nanomedicine), systems biology (genomics, proteomics, lipidomics, glycomics, bioinformatics based on experimental approaches), chemical biology (chemical compounds, drug mechanisms, synthesis of novel compounds, click chemistry), structural biology (crystallography, NMR, multimeric proteins, protein dynamics), novel complexes (pure natural compounds, synthetic compounds, protein complexes, nucleic acid derivatives), cellular signaling (receptor signaling, protein phosphorylation cascades, phosphatases, secondary messengers, transcription regulation, gene expression), glycobiology (sugar metabolites and metabolism, glycosylated proteins, membrane protein, glycosylation, glycomics), redox biology (redox switches, glutathione and thioredoxin systems, oxygen and nitrogen radical species, superoxide, hydrogen peroxide, hydroxyl radical, nitric oxide, peroxides, hypoxia, redox regulation of transcription factors), neurobiology (neuronal growth factors and nerve signaling, glial cells, autonomic and central nervous systems), stem cells (differentiation, stem cell isolation and cultivation, growth factors), imaging methodologies and mechanistic characterization of compounds having biochemical importance and general interest (drug leads, toxicants, nutrients, metabolites).Authors must provide a sentence at submission stating the reason that the work described in the manuscript has general significance and interest to a wide audience. Claims of novelty do not suffice. The author statement will be used as an aid in the reviewing process and will be included in the final version of the accepted paper to orient readers of BBA General Subjects.
BBA Molecular Basis of Disease addresses the biochemistry and molecular genetics of disease processes and models of human disease. This journal covers aspects of aging, cancer, metabolic-, neurological-, and immunological-based disease. Manuscripts focused on using animal models to elucidate biochemical and mechanistic insight in each of these conditions, are particularly encouraged. Manuscripts should emphasize the underlying mechanisms of disease pathways and provide novel contributions to the understanding and/or treatment of these disorders. Highly descriptive and method development submissions may be declined without full review. The submission of uninvited reviews to BBA - Molecular Basis of Disease is strongly discouraged, and any such uninvited review should be accompanied by a coverletter outlining the compelling reasons why the review should be considered.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. BBA Proteins and Proteomics covers protein structure conformation and dynamics; protein folding; protein-ligand interactions; enzyme mechanisms, models and kinetics; protein physical properties and spectroscopy; and proteomics and bioinformatics analyses of protein structure, protein function, or protein regulation.Concise and comprehensive reviews of recent developments are considered for publication. However, authors are strongly advised to consult one of the Executive Editors before starting a review.Types of papers published: regular papers, reviews and mini-reviews.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. JA Education, formerly Continuing Education in Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Pain, is a joint venture of the British Journal of Anaesthesia and The Royal College of Anaesthetists in the UK. It is also the official journal of The Faculty of Pain Medicine, The College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland, The Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiologists and the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine.
Basal Ganglia focuses on all scientific aspects related to diseases of basal ganglia, especially movement disorders. It aims to connect medical researchers and clinicians in the field of neurology as well as other related fields. The journal will be an international platform for researchers and clinicians, publishing articles in English language after a thorough peer-review process.Submissions covering the following research areas are welcome for publication: basic research such as anatomy, pathophysiology, diagnostics and therapy, as well as all clinical aspects dealing with movement disorders or diseases of basal ganglia.Basal Ganglia focuses primarily on original research articles. These may cover randomized controlled studies, other clinical studies, observational and epidemiological studies and outcome research studies. In addition, the journal will feature state-of-the-art reviews, current opinion pieces and case reports.
