Accident Analysis & Prevention

ISSN: 0001-4575

Accident Analysis & Prevention provides wide coverage of the general areas relating to accidental injury and damage, including the pre-injury and immediate post-injury phases. Published papers deal with medical, legal, economic, educational, behavioral, theoretical or empirical aspects of transportation accidents, as well as with accidents at other sites. Selected topics within the scope of the Journal may include: studies of human, environmental and vehicular factors influencing the occurrence, type and severity of accidents and injury; the design, implementation and evaluation of countermeasures; biomechanics of impact and human tolerance limits to injury; modelling and statistical analysis of accident data; policy, planning and decision-making in safety.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. Distinktion: Journal of Social Theory

ISSN: 1600-910XeISSN: 2159-9149

Distinktion: Journal of Social Theory is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes papers which make a substantial contribution to contemporary social theory. The journal particularly investigates the interface between social and political theory, often explored in thematic issues. Distinktion invites articles from sociology, political science, cultural and legal studies, anthropology, and philosophy that provide original perspectives on the social. The journal features theory articles as well as more empirical contributions, but empirical papers should outline implications for social theory. Distinktion publishes standard articles as well as review essays.

Distinktion is published in April, August, and December. Manuscripts are welcomed by the Editors. Acknowledging that some arguments require more space than 8,000 words, Distinktion is committed to publish longer paper. The Editors also welcome special issue proposals. These should clearly state the aims of the special issue; time frame (expected submission date); abstracts and titles of the individual papers (a standard special issue includes 7–8 papers); author names, affiliations, and brief bio-notes; as well as whether authors have agreed to contribute.

Articles appearing in Distinktion are abstracted and indexed in Sociological Abstracts, Worldwide Political Science Abstracts, Scopus, and EBSCO SocIndex. The journal is published with financial support from the Nordic Board for Periodicals in the Humanities and the Social Sciences (NOP-HS).

All submitted manuscripts are subject to initial appraisal by the Editors, and, if found suitable for further consideration, to peer review by independent, anonymous expert referees. All peer review is double blind and submission is online via ScholarOne Manuscripts http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/rdis.

Instrumentation Science & Technology

ISSN: 1073-9149eISSN: 1525-6030

Emphasis is on modern instrumental concepts, though not exclusively, including detectors, sensors, data acquisition and processing, instrument control, chromatography, electrochemistry, spectroscopy of all types, electrophoresis, radiometry, relaxation methods, thermal analysis, physical property measurements, surface physics, membrane technology, microcomputer design, chip-based processes, and more. Readership includes everyone who uses instrumental techniques to conduct their research and development. They are chemists (organic, inorganic, physical, analytical, nuclear, quality control) biochemists, biotechnologists, engineers, and physicists in all of the instrumental disciplines mentioned above, in both the laboratory and chemical production environments. The journal is an important resource of instrument design and applications data. The Institute of Scientific Information Journal Citations Report for 2003 ranks Instrumentation Science and Technology 53rd out of 67 journals in Chemistry-Analytical (Science) and 23rd out of 49 journals in Instruments and Instrumentation (Science), with an impact factor of 0.714. Publication office: Taylor & Francis, Inc., 325 Chestnut Street, Suite 800, Philadelphia, PA 19106.

Microchemical Journal

ISSN: 0026-265XeISSN: 1095-9149

The Microchemical Journal is a peer reviewed journal devoted to all aspects and phases of analytical chemistry and chemical analysis. The Microchemical Journal publishes articles which are at the forefront of modern analytical chemistry and cover innovations in the techniques to the finest possible limits. This includes fundamental aspects, instrumentation, new developments, innovative and novel methods and applications including environmental and clinical field.Traditional classical analytical methods such as spectrophotometry and titrimetry as well as established instrumentation methods such as flame and graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry, gas chromatography, and modified glassy or carbon electrode electrochemical methods will be considered, provided they show significant improvements and novelty compared to the established methods. The journal does not consider routine analytical method development in such areas as pharmaceutical samples, chromatography, minor incremental changes such as sample preparation and pre-concentration for electrochemical, chromatography and spectrochemical methods. Methods considered will not be waters or situations where the methods cannot determine the molecules or metals of interest in real samples and depends on spikes, or simply using standard chemometric methods. Fragmentation of work is strongly discouraged. The journal was established in the late 1950's as a journal devoted to the rapidly developing field of microchemistry. As the area of microchemistry has evolved into analyses in microgram masses and microvolumes (and lower), lower detection limits, and more sophisticated and compact instrumentation, the Microchemical Journal has continued to evolve and change with this growing and expanding area, covering now analytical chemical research in its broadest sense. The journal has published numerous special issues devoted to topics and well as selected conferences. The journal also considers original reviews.
